Morgan Clemons presents Compliance is Not a Four-Letter Word at the Fintech 101 Conference

Aldridge Pite associate Morgan Clemons presented: Compliance is Not a Four-Letter Word at the Fintech 101 Conference on April 11, 2018 in Atlanta.  Atlanta is ranked as the fourth-best tech hub in the United States and ranks #7 in the United States as one of the best cities to launch a startup.  The conference presented an opportunity to learn about the initial challenges facing fintech companies at various growth stages, including hiring top talent from different countries, protecting the idea and branding through intellectual property considerations, and corporate law considerations related to partnering with other companies and/or venture capital investment.  Ms. Clemons presented on compliance considerations and discussed the benefits and burdens associated with regulatory compliance for fintech companies, how to determine whether and to what extent the financial service or product is regulated, and risks of noncompliance.
Ms. Clemons advises banks, mortgage companies, consumer lenders, fintech start-ups, bill pay, and international money transmitters on compliance matters. Prior to representing financial institutions in private practice, Ms. Clemons worked as a nondepository financial institutions enforcement attorney for a state banking department.  She is an adjunct professor at Emory University School of Law. Ms. Clemons is a graduate of Duke University School of Law.
